Traditional, Cute or "Punny"?

What do you look for in Christmas and Holiday cards?

Personally, I love a good pun! But, sometimes I have to temper the urge…because I know it really shouldn’t be all about me 🙂🙃. I always hope that people I send cards to know that I’ve chosen that particular card to send because I think they’ll like it - it takes me a lot longer than it would to just write away, but it’s worth it - lots of happy reminiscing for me and some extra big smiles for them!

Luckily, there’s something for everyone in Paper-Roses’ collection, so you’ll never be stuck trying to find something just right.

Anything else?

Is there anything else you look for in a Christmas card…apart from the artwork and messaging? For me, a card’s eco-creds are equally relevant - which is why all of Paper-Roses’ cards are printed on FSC certified 100% post-consumer recycled paper using vegetable based inks, with no coatings, foiling or embellishments.

Why’s this important?

It takes a lot less energy and requires less water to create new paper from waste paper than it does from wood…and when paper’s recycled it doesn’t end up in landfill (which, to be frank, is the absolute worst place for it, because of all the methane gas produced as it breaks down).

And by using vegetable based inks, we’re removing the reliance on a non-renewable resource (petroleum oils) in the printing process. They also release fewer volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during printing, which can pose a serious health threat to workers.

What about the coatings, foiling and embellishments? Well, without these, you can be sure that any card you send can be recycled…and turned into something new. Although, I quietly hope that people will “reuse” any Paper-Roses card they receive - do you ever make gift tags or Christmas decorations from old Christmas cards?

I’d love to hear what you look for when you’re buying Christmas and Holiday cards - looking forward to reading your comments.
